From the Rhine-Main area
Thanks to the new motorway connection via the A49, the region Edersee From the Rhine-Main area, it's faster to reach than ever before. From the Gambacher Kreuz interchange, take the A5 to the Kassel-West interchange, then the A49 towards Borken/Bad Zwesten. From the new Neuental interchange, continue on the B3 and B485 directly to Bad Wildungen or Edertal. The journey time from Frankfurt is approximately two hours.
Note: There are rest areas and several fast-charging points for electric vehicles along the route.
From the Ruhr area
From the Dortmund or Essen area, the fastest route is via the A44 to Diemelstadt, from there via the B252 towards Korbach and then via the B485 to the region EderseeAn alternative route takes the A45 to the Gießen-Süd junction, then continues on the B3 and B253 through the Waldeck region. Both routes offer scenic stretches, especially from Korbach and Frankenberg.
From Northern Hesse and Kassel
From Kassel, the fastest route is via the A49 to Wabern and then the B253 towards Bad Wildungen. Alternatively, you can reach the southeastern side of the lake (Bringhausen, Rehbach, Hemfurth) via the B485. The journey time from Kassel is approximately one hour, depending on your destination. A particularly convenient feature: There are several signposted parking areas along the route with direct access to hiking and cycling trails, as well as bus connections to the tourist hotspots.
From southern Germany
From the south, the best way to get there is via the A7 or A5 to Gießen, then continue on the B3 towards Marburg and Frankenberg. From Frankenberg, the B252 leads via Herzhausen and Vöhl directly to the northern EderseeThe route is well developed and scenically attractive, especially in the area of the Kellerwald-Edersee.
