A nature experience of a special kind - old domestic animal breeds, lean grassland and heath on the Arche adventure trail in Frankenau. You can hike this on your own, but guided tours are also offered.
The Culture Ark in the form of a ship provides information about this ancient cultural landscape with an interactive exhibition. Inside the ship, the exhibition elements invite visitors to actively participate in topics such as old domestic animal breeds, extensive land use, biological diversity, product manufacturing and regional marketing.
On the "command bridge" the old domestic animal breeds are presented using an "occupancy plan". Their abilities, habits and preferences are recorded in the "logbook". At the central "navigation table" the visitor can explore the biodiversity of the habitats. At the "steering wheel" they can discover how different landscape types influence biodiversity.
The exhibition is complemented by an information module of the Kellerwald Nature Park-Edersee, where guests can view location-specific hiking trails, events, restaurants and much more information.

opening hours
The Kultur-Arche is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 18:00 p.m. in the summer months. From November to March the opening hours are shortened to 10:00 a.m. to 16:00 p.m.

We recommend arriving by road from the west via the B252 federal highway followed by the L3085. From the east you can get there via the B253 and then the L3085.

In general, the “AST-Taxi” (CallSammelTaxi) should also be included in the planning. With the CallSammelTaxis (AST), the NVV ensures mobility on routes that are not in great demand. Instead of taking the bus, you can travel here in normal taxis or rental cars. AST also have fixed timetables - you just have to register your wish to travel by telephone (usually) up to 30 minutes before the journey. Also remember that AST only run when there are no normal buses running at the same time.
