Route 1 offers deep insights into the Edertal. From the festival site in Buchenberg, the path leads past a juniper heath in which the heath carnation grows. We continue to the Estenberg with numerous viewpoints. The view sweeps over Herzhausen to the Edersee winding through steep mountain slopes.

The juniper heath has been protected as a natural monument “juniper and gorse area” near Buchenberg since 1985. The juniper blooms from April to May.
