Route 2 leads up to the Jesberger Keller. It is criss-crossed by gorges and wet forests of wild forest streams coming from the heights.
Route 2 leads up to the Jesberger Keller. It is criss-crossed by gorges and wet forests of wild forest streams coming from the heights. As part of the large-scale nature conservation project at the Kellerwald region site, foreign tree species were removed from the deeply cut burial ditch so that the fire salamander can find a habitat again. Past the Dr. Strehlke beech goes down to the refuge at the edge of the forest. As you leave the forest, your view wanders into the Gilsa valley and over Jesberg. What catches the eye are the ruins of a Romanesque hilltop castle that towers on the Schlossberg above the small town. A visit to the renovated castle complex is worth it.
