Circular route 3 from the Lorfetal hiking car park in Altenlotheim takes us along the Burgweg to Hessenstein Castle.

The circular route 3 takes us almost 12 km along the castle path to Hessenstein Castle. The late medieval hilltop castle "Hessenstein" is located on the southern spur of the Keseberg. Today, the old castle is a youth hostel. From Hessenstein Castle, we follow the Kellerwaldsteig around the Keseberg with views of the Eder Valley. Before the path leaves the forest into the wide Eder Valley, we turn off and make our way back through the Lorfe Valley to the hiking car park.
