“ARS-NATURA – Art on the hiking trail”, that is, an artistic experience in the “Nature Gallery Space”. Almost 80 works of art are waiting to be discovered on more than 8 km along the Barbarossaweg X 100 from Spangenberg via Melsungen, Felsberg and Fritzlar, via Bad Zwesten to Bad Wildungen.
With a length of around 12 kilometers, this “ARS NATURA circular route X 8a” section is particularly suitable for day trips. Ten works of art decorate the circular hiking trail. It's a good place to "sniff" before exploring the entire "ARS NATURA" on "Schusters Rappen". The start of the circular hiking trail is in the spa park at the Kurhaus in Bad Zwesten, opposite the lower entrance at the Kurhaus.
As with the previous sections of "ARS-NATURA", the careful dialogue between nature and art is groundbreaking. The circular route to Wenzigerode offers wonderful, wide views of the low mountain landscape, dense forest landscape where you can find impressive old trees, the charming half-timbered architecture of the spa town of Bad Zwesten and the pristine nature of the Kellerwaldsteig. The healing and mineral springs as well as the wooded surroundings of the Kellerwald suggested the continuation of the artistic focus on the regenerative powers of nature and human recreation.

The official rescue points (e.g. HR-47) are entered/marked on the maps and signs on site. If you are injured, you can inform the emergency services (telephone: 112) of the relevant point.
Due to felling work and drought damage to the trees, there are currently brief closures. Current information on the situation for the entire region can be found on the homepage of the Kellerwald-Edersee Nature Park.
On the hiking trail you hike in sections on narrow, sometimes steep paths. Surefootedness, sturdy shoes and a bit of fitness are required.
Stone-making contemporary witnesses – the boundary stones. Zwesten was once a border town between the Landgraviate of Hesse and Waldeck. Many boundary stones in the Zwesten forests still bear witness to this today. In the Wenzigerode area there were significant border disputes between Hesse and Waldeck for centuries. A large number of boundary stones from several eras can be found in the area of the art hiking trail. - Mainz (Fritzlar)-Löwenstein from 1535 with Mainz wheel & lion - Waldeck and the Electoral Mainz office of Fritzlar from 1558, the so-called Samuel stones with coat of arms: Waldecker star & inscription SGZW - Hesse-Waldeck from 1739 – 1862 with Hessian coat of arms & Waldeck star - Waldeck-Niederwildungen from 1772 with Waldecker star and inscription NW - Prussia Waldeck from 1868 with inscription KP & FW

Line 410 - Borken-Bad Zwesten-Bad Wildungen
A particularly large catchment area can be reached with bus line 410: These buses run between Borken and Bad Wildungen (here DB connections) every hour and take Bad Zwesten and Oberurff along half of them!
Routes 407 and 411 (school buses)
Lines 407 and 411 complement Bad Zwesten and Oberurff on the Hessian school days.
AST - call share taxis
With CallSammelTaxis (AST), the NVV ensures mobility on routes that are not in great demand. Instead of taking the bus, you can travel here in normal taxis or rental cars. AST also have fixed timetables - you just have to register your wish to travel by telephone (usually) up to 30 minutes before the journey. Also remember that AST only run when there are no normal buses running at the same time.
