Best Season

Get to know the northern part of the Edersee adventure region. The open hilly landscape around Waldeck and Sachsenhausen as well as the valleys of Werbe and Reiherbach are simply magical.

In Nieder-Werbe, the Edersee cycle path 1 branches off from the Edersee circular path and ends there again. The ER1 is a moderately demanding tour that invites you to linger here and there for a longer period of time. The start is at the parking lot in Nieder-Werbe. As with the other circular tours, it is possible to start at any point along the route. Whether through the picturesque Werbetal or the quiet Reiherbachtal - the climb to the Waldecker Tafel is gentle. The hilly landscape around Sachsenhausen is open and always offers wonderful views of the Kellerwald-Edersee Nature Park and the Upland. The deeply cut Werbetal appears picturesque with its bizarre rock formations, colorful heather heaths, the natural Werbe, the idyllic half-timbered villages, old mills and the dilapidated monastery walls of Ober-Werbe. The cycle path runs parallel to the babbling Werbe stream. In spring the forest presents itself in a delicate green. Even on hot summer days, it ensures a pleasant climate. In the “Indian Summer”, the sunny autumn, the forest shines in warm colors. Again and again it provides wonderful views of the surroundings, both near and far.
