The shorter, 2,5 km long Route 2 leads around the Mühlenberg near Ellershausen. There is a large area of valuable juniper heath here. It was expanded by removing spruce growth. Maintenance through grazing with sheep supports the positive development of the juniper and heather stocks. Before returning to the starting point, the path leads past Allendorf.
