Route 1 "Infoweg Wildromantisches Urfftal" follows the Urff, accompanied by alder forests, through the wildly romantic Märzenbechertal.
Over thousands of years, the stream has cut deep into layers of rock that were created 400 million years ago at the bottom of an ancient sea or ejected by volcanoes. Rock formations made of limestone, slate, quartzite and diabase are exposed. These include the hiking cliff on the Orthberg made of Kellerwald quartzite and a limestone band. The Kellerwald Agate, an iron pebble, is available from the gemstone cutting shop in Bergfreiheit.
