On this stage, the Urwaldsteig between Bringhausen and Herzhausen or Kirchlotheim is hiked. The big topic here is exploring the UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Kellerwald-Edersee National Park
You start at the village church of Bringhausen or the “Kirchweg” hiking car park. From the hiking car park you have the famous “Fünfseenblick”. At the edge of the forest, after a few hundred meters, you pass the entrance gate to the national park.
North of the Bloßenberg you descend through a narrow, wildly romantic valley (“Wieslohgraben”) to the Edersee. Steep rocky embankments with rare plant occurrences (Pentecostal carnation, grass lily, etc.) accompany the bank edge path.
After crossing the idyllic Banfe Bay, the path climbs up to the primeval forests of the Arens Mountain. You are now moving in the UNESCO World Heritage area. On the opposite side of the valley a staircase leads you to the Ringelsberg. You circle several, deeply cut valley gorges of the Hundsbach and finally reach the Hagenstein with a view of the wide Edertal or the “Loreley of the Edertal” on the western border of the national park.
The striking church of the village of Kirchlotheim greets you from the distance. Shortly after Kirchlotheim you reach the district of Herzhausen and the destination National Park Center Kellerwald.
