On this stage, the Urwaldsteig between the town of Waldeck and Hemfurth is hiked. The “Waldecker Basin” is omnipresent on this tour, which runs along the steep slopes. The views are absolutely amazing!
After perhaps a previous detour to the “landmark” of the region, Waldeck Castle, the Urwaldsteig leads past city walls on the hill of the Elsterberg and offers a magnificent view of the Edersee landscape.
At the city limits you immerse yourself in the forests on the steep slopes. On the Ziegenberg, a stunted oak and beech bush forest awaits you over slate ground.
After walking around a gorge, you hike to the pulpit. A wide Edersee panorama welcomes you at the pulpit and below you, on the rocky slope, a jungle with impressive, sometimes daring tree shapes grows.
The attractive hiking trail continues to the extreme forests of the Uhrenkopf. From a vantage point with a view of the last major project of the imperial era, the imposing Edertalsperre can be admired in all its splendor! From here you can also take a detour to the dam.
The path continues on the valley slope parallel to the Eder until you get down to the road. You cross the bridge and reach the parking lot of the Uniper (formerly E.ON) funicular in Hemfurth.
