Best Season

Route 2 leads up to the highest peak in the Kellerwald.

Route 2 leads up to the highest peak of the Kellerwald and through the “Wüstegarten”. There are signs of early settlement in the Wüstegarten, including the ring wall of the historic Heidelburg ramparts. A steep path leads up to the Kellerwald tower. Before descending back to the starting point, we recommend taking a detour along the approximately 800m long moor adventure trail to gain insights and views of extraordinary landscapes and rare plant species. If you would also like to explore the Mausefalle rock formations and the Exhelmersteine made of Kellerwald quartzite, take a detour via the Kellerwaldsteig.
