Best Season

With their long history and sacred atmosphere, the five churches along the Way of St. James invite you to look, breathe and pray.

“Paths are created when you walk”, this saying by Franz Kafka is the motto of the pilgrimage routes. Display boards with further sayings about paths and path experiences invite you to think about what you experience when you decide to walk in this unique landscape. The aim is the harmony of nature and the soul, as can be particularly experienced during pilgrimages. Pilgrimage, as a journey to a holy place, is one of the most beautiful forms of walking.

Via the Löwenstein castle ruins to Oberurff and Niederurff. A picturesque landscape with open land, forest edges and the valley landscapes of the Urff and Schwalm. Here you can let your eyes and thoughts wander into the distance. If you want to continue your pilgrimage on the southern route, you can take a detour to the church in Römersberg and to Altenburg, with the observation tower.
