Accessible vacation.

Wheelchair accessible recreational facilities and accommodation.

Barrier-free at the Edersee

Our spa town of Bad Wildungen is well equipped for a barrier-free holiday with a wheelchair. Under the motto "Nature for everyone", the aim of the National Park Office is to make its facilities as barrier-free as possible. One free electric scooter is available for hire in the Kellerwald National Park Centre, in the Edersee Wildlife Park and in the KellerwaldUhr. There are wheelchair-accessible hiking trails, such as the Qualified Family Hiking Trail Eddis Edersee Adventure Tour, and in the Elsebachtal there is an adventure trail for the visually impaired. The treetop path is also accessible without obstacles. A sailing club rents out boats for wheelchair users. There are also several public wheelchair-accessible toilet facilities.

Lots of service for wheelchair users on vacation

"In 2019 we discovered the Edersee and fell in love with it straight away. Since then we've come here whenever possible, it's definitely been 15 times in total. We also have rituals, so we always visit the wildlife park. The tranquility It's lovely there because it's not that crowded and the view of the lake is beautiful. It was a bit difficult with a wheelchair. What we didn't know the first time is that we can rent an e-scooter there. It is Free and reduced entry for wheelchair users. We also rent a boat with every stay, even in winter.

When we're here, we can switch off completely. The problems stay at home and you just enjoy. Already on the way, when we drive through the small villages, I feel happy. By the way, this is very important: There are many parking spaces at the lake and wheelchair-accessible toilet facilities, some of which are even heated. Everything is very clean."

"We always have fun. Here you can do whatever you want, even as a wheelchair user.”

Jenny and Christoph, wheelchair users from Ibbenbüren
