On the historic old town circular path of Waldeck, with a view of the Count's Castle, you can visit beautiful house facades, the medieval city wall and small alleys.

Castle - Waldeck Castle and its counts

Changing rulers, merchants and craftsmen have shaped the history of the city.

The town of Waldeck owes its existence to a knight who once built his castle on a wooded hill high above the Edertal. What has the defiant walls not "experienced" since its existence?

Imperial troops, French and even Englishmen can be found among the lords of the castle. Only two cannons on the edge of the wall and a few tools of war in the castle museum are reminiscent of the troubled times. A trip into the past is a visit to the museum of Waldeck Castle. The exhibition is geared towards the state penitentiary period.
